Significant Gesture Creation And Use by Leon Saris
I made this "significant gesture" in coöperation with some other guys, i'll add a picture to show how to do the "basic" move and you can always add extra moves. I'd love that, in fact ;) The gesture I made is a gesture of friendship and must me done only whilst feeling happy. If you don't feel happy don't try to do it unless you want to feel happy. First, me and Sjoerd (some guy from school) doing the basic... I didn't adjust speed or something like that... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOjxW-pU0o0 secondly, we did this three times, right after eachother, take a look ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2HCwTTUH-o We made another one, looks like the first one, but it's absolutely different. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW-fVccGScw after that, we thought a turn would be nice, so we tried a turn. too bad the video is that bad, oh well, it's school... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HpjF5wxukA next, I realise now it's a big list ;) who care's it's fun doing and I hope everyone'll be doing it, you walk down the street and you see practically everyone doing this "move" instead of shaking hands or kissing. Here's a short summary of the previous 4 movies. All three moves in one move. This'll be Sjoerd and me doing some sort of "wave" one our gesture-ish way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eItTYEmi1z0 And we made an entire group do this wave. Pretty much funny :) And ofcourse, if you want to fight, but you cant, you can always do these greetings in battle form, just as we did on this movie. Pretty much more of the same... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn-VZzySA9k Ofcourse, if you're finished you want to party, so, we found some guys wich were willing to join us on our festive of hopping and gesturing... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdC6EfXwczQ Sorry, I wasn't able to put the movies in the task description, you'll have to link up. I hope you still want to see all the movies. Can't upload all the movies atm, will add the rest later, or just take a look at youtube, there are nine movies in total. Ofcourse, you guys want to do this gesture, in that case, you must know the basics. The basics are prescriped below. [proof:1,size:100,align:left]
Anti/Social
Cannibal Cafe will be part of the Anti/Social group show in Mission 17 Gallery in San Francisco. The one hour video will be play continuously within the installation. I also created a booklet of the conversation texts, which will be available in the show to read or to order.
The initiative of the show in large is to question and investivgate art practices that deal with social interation. I haven’t see all the work in the show yet but it’s certainly a very diverse show. The opening night is this Friday 6 - 9 PM and it should be interesting to see the performances that night.
