thanks so much for the support in 2006 as we began to grow this community.

this year was all about sprouting the first leaves of overlap. we produced a bunch of events :
    3 OVERLAP events - http://overlap.org/tag/overlapevent
    and 5 LISTEN events - http://overlap.org/tag/listen

and in late fall we released a few pieces - live sets and images from maiko kuzinishi.

please continue to support. become part of this community - join overlap.org and try out
your own overlap blog, or submit your own music/art-related blog feed. make sure to comment and rank posts on overlap, and definitely reach out to us if you’re interested in collaborating with the crew here. we need web designers, and people to help us promote our live shows.
    contact us at : info(at)overlap.org

next year we will produce new OVERLAP and LISTEN events, release new exclusive video and music from the overlap.org community + add some new design tweaks to the site.

    Sunset Beams from On-Li

On-Li is a Japanese art/netlabel collective producing some quality materials. I was browsing their offerings and found a song by Shiba that describes my current mood perfectly. Hope you like mellow jazz as much as I do.

    Sarah McLachlan Singing

I have a late Christmas present for you. Sarah McLachlan recently offered Christmas Remix stems for a competition hosted by Beatport.com, in order to promote her new Christmas album, Wintersong. His Boy Elroy (featured several times before) intended to enter. Sadly, he missed the deadline. I suspect he might have won had he not. You can listen and download winning tracks on the Beatport release page. Some of them are very creative! Lot's of other remixes are available on the remix listen page. Happy New Year!

    Mikromops

German singer, Boris Von Der Burg and Swiss electro producer, Uwe Schwarz have teamed up to produce some nice electro-pop, released via Alpinechic. I really enjoyed the laid back melodies in "Menschenmosaik". Too bad I don't understand a word of it. Maybe that's part of the charm.

Digital Samsara’s new release “Blue Beryll”downbeat, ambient, meditative chillout))
    original world electronic music

    Reviewer: DJ Drifter
With such an influx of Eastern influenced chillout, especially in the psychedelic scene, it seemed that this would just be another album in a long list of similar artistry. Boy was I wrong ! This album has a fantastic balance of organic instruments paired with drifting synth ambience. The music is focused and richly textured. There was serious devotion and love that went into the writing of this album. Rather than compare them to others, I would just tell you that if you enjoy Eastern influenced ambient music, or top notch psychill….then you need to pick this one up for your collection. One of the best albums I have heard in several years !!
    Ben-Canar:saz,oud,flamenco guitar,percussion
    Dirk Kunesh:trumpet,didjeridoo,irish flutes,overtones
    Shahar Kaufman:electric and acoustic guitars,programming
    Track list:
    1.7am
    2.Olhon
    3.Beyond Concept
    4.Uda
    5.Memories
    6.Floating
    7.Barguzin

    going under the wave

Tags: Blog Entries, commonsoverlap @ 4:01 pm

Tomorrow morning I am going into the hospital to have this stone blasted. The procedure is at 12 PM central. It costs $11,900 which the hospital would have discounted to $7000.00 if I could have payed 1000.00 tomorrow. I can’t. Instead, Dr. Lapin (who is still a total bad ass) called it in as an emergency, so they have to let me have it done, but will be billing me the full price. I can call afterward and try to work out some kind of financial arrangement.

Anyway, Think of me tomorrow around noon.
