Rx Gallery R.I.P. (Overlap 08 tba)

Blasthaus, a *huge* Overlap supporter, recently closed the doors of their event space, the Rx Gallery. In it’s lifetime the Rx helped San Francisco’s art/music scene thrive. With Blasthaus’ help Overlap has been able to host a bunch of cool events at the Rx, and we are super grateful. Thanks Monika and Will, you rock.

So we’re giving all of you a raincheck for Overlap 08. We’ll let you know the new location and date as soon as possible.

BSWC One-a-Day: Mixro - Black is the Night

    Instant Classic.

An Editor's Pick at ccMixter, but with some controversy. I jammed on it immediately. No question about whether it is a one a day pick or not.

Another incredibly beautiful day here in New England and frankly those three sentences are all I can muster. Take care.

    • search
    • tag clouds
    • videobox solution
    • fix png for IE (in fact, test on it!)

    .
    soon enough.

BSWC One-a-Day: The Fuzz - God Bless the Radio

    Tags: commonsbiotic @ 1:33 pm
    A classic.

From the very first release of Chenard Walcker's netlabel, Free Sample Zone comes this incredible slice of the era. The tune was originally released in 1994 and rereleased on FSZ ten years later in 2004.

The Fuzz explained in the original notes why they refused to pay royalties for using samples. They encouraged artists to follow their policy. They had no success, neither with the music nor with the Free Sample movement. They released their following albums under the name of The O.

I'll be on the air later tonight. BSWC-The Show will be featuring tribute material from the WM Recordings Chenard Walcker tribute release....look for some classic Walcker stuff to go along with the feature release.

I’ll be creating live moving images at the Seco club in Tokyo on 10/4. This is a part of the Visualux “Tokyo Audio Visual Interactive” series of events masterminded by the fantastic designer and VJ Ben Sheppee. Thrilled to be taking my work to Japan !

BSWC One-a-Day: Implosion Quintet - The way to the people is through *bing*

    Tags: commonsbiotic @ 7:51 pm
I am pleased to post the first track of the first release from Commodity records! The release, Shackle Your Rams, is quite eclectic, and tasty. I came across it on archive.org

    From the Implosion Quintet Site:
"Deliberately under-produced, unquantized and sketchy, these are sincere creations of real people. We do of course have aspirations in joining the long, long line of glossy corporate puppets and becoming pouting cut-outs locked into vacuous mainstream mediocrity, but, dash it all, we just cant seem to get used to the taste of sperm."
Commodity Records is will be the central point for the release of Implosion Quintet's ongoing work, and other music that they like ;) . They admit freely on the site that there is no guiding philosophy for the label.

I hope you enjoy this track:
