    What is Overlap.org ?

Overlap.org does three main things : release independent multimedia art, produce unique live events, and aggregate any creative blog or podcast that is submitted to the site. Overlap also provides an Overlap.org-based blog to get you up and sharing your work with others.Overlap.org features unique multimedia work, and brings people together online and offline, in order to catalyze multimedia creation, collaboration, and new methods of digital distribution. Anyone can submit their podcast or blog to Overlap.org, and automatically mirror their content on this site. Overlap.org features unreleased media from artists’ shared blogs and podcasts, recorded from our live events, or commissioned for release and distribution through this website. We also produce live events like the OVERLAP and LISTEN series that are just as diverse as the featured material.

    How to get Involved

Create a new account and submit your blog or podcast feed URL into the community here. You can use Overlap to connect with new independent artists, be on top of some cool events, or simply check out new stuff that is being made by overlap-related artists.

    What is a feed?

A feed is what connects your blog or podcast to an aggregator like Overlap.org . A feed allows the distribution of words, video, audio and other media via a subscription-style model. Various blogs generate feeds and, depending on the type of media posted to your blog, you are providing a podcast for audio and a vlog for video, or whatever you decide to name it. Anyone can create a blog on Overlap.org by signing up.

When you sumbit a feed to Overlap.org, you are responsible for the content you are syndicating. If Overlap.org features your work, your own copyright remains, unless a work for hire agreement has been established, or if you choose to co-publish your work with OVERLAP MUSIC (ASCAP) via Christopher Willits for licensing exposure. If Overlap.org records a live performance from an OVERLAP event of otherwise, Overlap will ask your permission before we feature the master recordings on the Overlap.org or any podcast or feed hosted from Overlap.org.

    Artist Agreement for Releases

For all releases, unless otherwise agreed upon, the artist retains ownership of the master recordings and publishing (!). All releases are to be exclusive to Overlap for the duration of 5 years, with the exception of self-releasing the work into iTunes through Tunecore.com. In addition, artists may wish to publish works via Overlap’s publishing company OVERLAP MUSIC (ASCAP) for increased licensing exposure. Any licensing arranged through Overlap, from such content, will be administered for 20% less the total license price (in other words Overlap keeps 20% for a license Overlap sets up). All “pay-what-you-want” donations given to Overlap.org for a specific release are tracked on a per item basis and will be split 50% artist and 50% Overlap. Accounting will be performed every 6 months and payment will be granted via PayPal. All agreements are artist-superior and if any complexities should arise all will be handled kindly and in good faith.
