simulacro: una de vaqueros ep

simulacro: una de vaqueros ep

This pieces were constructed from improvisations that were later edited and reamped. Experiments for WAV guitar. Unavoidably there are derailings, explotions, clouds of dust and bandits. We all want to be the no-name cowboy.

The sound is reconfigurated and transfigurated showing it’s plastic nature. The digital representation creates new mediums and ways. Freedom in manipulation is the key of mutation.

simulacro: construcción y ensamble, guitarras materiales y espirituales, amplificadores y procesos.

minimal thrash, drone metal

Symbiosis Episode 42 - Gunshae: A History Of Invocations
16 Jan 2010, 6:57pm -0800 by Simon Hampson

Hey folks,

What an interesting week. NAMM started in earnest, Google told the Chinese government that they weren’t going to censor their search results any more, and in Melbourne we started the week with a heat wave.

So.. whilst you’re catching up on all of that, grab this week’s Symbiosis..

Cheers,

Simon

Symbiosis Episode 42 - Gunshae: A History Of Invocations

“When people jump through time, they give themselves up to the rhyme and reason of the heavens.”

-Julian Cope

Symbiosis Episode 42 - Gunshae

These words are kind of the motto for Gunshae, the Panambient side project between myself, Kuma, and my dear friend and sonic sparring partner, Lady Eve.

It’s molten woodwinds and Satie references. It’s a heavy drones and show tunes played by a band sitting on a veranda after too many mint julips. It’s discrete music for the wifi generation.

It’s completely improvised ambient, classical and experimental stuff and things. It’s the sort of thing where sets go by in the blank of an eye and jams disappear because we give ourselves up to time and to chance. It just is.

In the grand tradition of what we do, this piece does exactly that, it jumps through time. Taking selections from our first album, the multi-track recordings of brand new songs “Madroning”, “Air Into Gold,” “Oceanic Yet Celestial” and “Celestial Yet Oceanic” and unreleased jams with Japan’s Hataken, we’ve woven together a history of Gunshae. Completed in one improvised session, this is the way of the Gun in 35 mins.

Gunshae for the purposes of this piece were:

Kuma
Lady Eve
Aya Oshida
Hataken
Lee Hutzulak
Rowan Lipkovitz
Vanessa Stovall
Little Jen
